The student card is essential for your daily life at Lusófona University. It is mandatory and free, allowing you to manage your academic and/or financial life.

This academic year, you have two types of student cards at your disposal: the Caixa IU student card and the Lusófona University digital card.

1. Caixa IU Student Card

You can sign up for the Caixa IU student card, which is also a free debit card.

Benefits of the Caixa IU Card:

• Simple and convenient
  • Identification Card: to recognise you as a Higher Education student;
  • Debit Card: for cash withdrawals or payments in shops, in Portugal, abroad or online;
  • Discount Card: for access to discounts with partners and tickets to cinemas, shows or exhibitions.
• No costs
  • As long as you are a student and until you turn 28, you won't pay a cent in card annual fees or account maintenance fees. You also have access to the Caixa M – Higher Education Account, which includes a current account, debit card, Caixadireta and credit card.

How to sign up for the Caixa IU Student Card?

You can sign up for the Caixa IU card and find more information at the CGD stands that will be at Lusófona University during the period of:

Lisbon University Centre:

• Date: From 30 September to 2 October
  Time: From 10h00 to 18h00
• Location: SIGA Space - Integrated Student Management Service

Porto University Centre:

• Date: From 30 September to 4 October
• Time: From 10h00 to 18h00
• Location: SIGA Space - Integrated Student Management Service

Note: Students enrolled in individual course units (referred to as external students) cannot obtain a student card as they are not considered university students. Only when they meet the conditions for higher education entry, apply and become internal students can they do so.

2. Lusófona University Digital Student Card

The Lusófona University digital card is a non-bank card that will be provided to all first-year students, i.e., new students (except students enrolled in individual course units / external students).

Do I need to meet any requirements to get my digital card?

• You need to go to the Caixa Geral de Depósitos stand at your educational institution during the above-mentioned period

What happens if I do not go to the CGD stand?

• The application will not unlock, and you will not be able to get your digital student card

What happens if I do not go to the CGD stand during the specified period?

• You will later receive instructions on how to proceed, which may involve going to a CGD bank branch

How do I access my digital student card?

• Students (2nd Year and beyond, any study cycle) - The card is generated automatically;
• New Students - The card is generated once CGD is in ULusófona or any IES of the Lusófona Education;
• Students not Enrolled in 24/25 - A message is generated informing that the card has expired and it will not be made available.
