The Steel and Composite Structures Course introduces the fundamental concepts required for the design of steel and composite structures. Different scientific and technical topics are presented, concerning the analysis and design of steel and composite structures according to the Eurocodes. In particular, focus is given to structural analysis, safety verification of the members to both internal forces and buckling, and the design of connections. In addition, some concepts regarding the modeling of wind actions are presented. These concepts are fundamental to the professional activity of a civil engineer, both in design or in production.

Objectives
Objectives
Quantification of the loads acting upon the structure, both in Ultimate and Service Limit States. Perform global and local structural analyses and identify the need to take into account imperfections and second order effects. Classify and design steel cross-sections subjected to internal forces. Determine the buckling resistance of elements. Determine the resistance of plate girders. Design bolted and welded connections. Design members of composite structures.
