Through the development of practical exercises (duly supported by the presentation and discussion of more theoretical issues), this UC promotes an atmosphere of an experimental workshop, enhancing the acquisition/development of technical skills in the fields of color, composition and printing, as also human skills in sharing, respect and collaboration.

Syllabus
Color (optical/sensory phenomenon; primary and secondary colors, clean and dirty, cold and warm; color systems (CMYK, RGB, direct color, PANTONE); color atmospheres; color contrasts; color as a cultural/symbolic element (chromatic illustration exercise). Printing: . Letterpress. Characteristics and applicability of the technology. Composition and printing exercises. Editorial project. . Silkscreen. Historical and cultural context. Technique and procedures: Photolith design and preparation (separation of colors through digital and manual means), sensitization of the serigraphic frame, engraving and opening of the design, color tuning, printing the proofs on paper and cleaning the serigraphic frames. Practical exercise. . Linocut. Historical and cultural context followed by practical exercise.

Objectives
Objectives
. Develop knowledge and sensitivity regarding color (a fundamental element in visual communication). . Recognize and explore some structuring elements of composition in the implementation of projects applied to the field of Design. . Develop knowledge and skills that allow the elaboration and execution in different typologies of the printing area. . Promote experimentation and discovery of printing processes and their materials (inks, tools and supports). . Expand the technical and experimental culture in the field of Design and the Arts. Be able to design a print edition manually. . Expose students to new and different ideas and professional ways of working; closing the gap between academia and the market, allowing students to test tools and processes they cannot normally access.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Active participation by experimentation, using the materials and techniques available at the DELLI Office Crafitng a publication as a consolidation of learning techniques and work methods. Use of different resources: scientific articles, books, slides, film, objects and materials, study visits, capable of, on the one hand, providing theoretical support and, on the other hand, clarifying and motivating students for the contents and exercises/projects.
