The Photography and Film I course aims to introduce students to the use of photographic tools for the production of static and animated design objects. Students are introduced to the black and white analog laboratory environment so they can produce an alphabet using frames and animatable elements. The ultimate goal is to construct an alphabet using a photographic image and use this alphabet to write a short text and produce an animation from frames. By topics: Introduce students to the black and white photography laboratory. Develop understanding of the logic of negative/positive printing. Build a diverse understanding of typeface construction, focusing on the manual construction of each letter, whether in a digital or analog environment. Conceptualize a rudimentary animation and/or a movie poster.
