This is important for: - systematize large amounts of information - through statistical indicators (immediate interpretation). - describe and understand relationships between variables and identify the most important relationships to make better and faster decisions and make more informed judgments.

    Contents Description: 1. Introduction: data types, notion of variable, types, operationalization, nature and measurement levels 2. Descriptive statistics: mean, median, mode, frequencies, percentage, skewness, kurtosis, range, interquartile ranges 3. Association between variables 4. Probabilities and significance levels, 5. Population and sample, types of samples 6. Parametric and non-parametric statistics 7. Chi-square tests 8. The statistical treatment of data with the IBM/SPSS package 9. Data interpretation 10. Presentation of statistics in reports

    Objectives

    At the end of this curricular unit students will: be able to identify the usefulness of quantitative methods, identify statistics and discuss their use and interpretation; operate the computer tools to process information and examine the relationship between variables.
