Ana Sofia Fonseca Ramos holds a degree in Biotechnology Engineering (2003), an MSc in Biotechnology Engineering (2011), and a PhD in Health Sciences (2025). She has completed multiple hands-on training programs in bioinformatics and computational biology, including pharmaceutical bioinformatics, artificial intelligence in drug discovery, next-generation sequencing (NGS) analysis, bulk RNA-seq, network and pathway analysis, and metagenomics (Qiime2). With a strong background in cancer research and bioinformatics, Ana Sofia has published three articles in peer-reviewed international journals, presented at 11 scientific events, and supervised two undergraduate theses, co-supervised three BSc projects, and one MSc thesis. Since 2021, she has been an Assistant Professor at Universidade Lusófona, where she teaches Human Genetics, Immunology, and Bioinformatics. Her research focuses on identifying diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in cancer, investigating tumor microenvironment progression-related mechanisms, and discovering novel inhibitors. More recently, she has expanded her interests to inflammatory mechanisms and their role in disease progression.
