Resume

Cíntia is a full member and Specialist in Community Nutrition and Public Health by the Ordem dos Nutricionistas. Graduated in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Spain), a master's in Training and Sports Nutrition from the Universidad Europea de Madrid (Spain), and a Ph.D. with International Mention in Nutrition and Metabolism from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (and internship in University of Arkansas, USA). Director of the Nutrition Sciences Bachelor at Universidade Lusófona (2021-2024), coordinator of the CBIOS Nutrition & Well-being lab (2021-2024), assistant researcher (2019-2024), and integrated member at CBIOS (Lusófona's Research Center for Biosciences Health Technologies)(2019-2024). Member of the Pedagogical and Scientific Council of the School of Health Sciences and Technologies (ECTS) of the Universidade Lusófona and the CBIOS - Universidade Lusófona's Research Center for Biosciences & Health Technologies (2019-2024). Member of the University Council of Universidade Lusófona (2021-2024). Member of the Consultative Observers of the Thematic Commission on Health and Food and Nutrition Security (SSAN) of the CPLP (Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries). Currently (2024-2025), Cíntia coordinates 11 curricular units (CUs), ranging from Research Methodologies to Sports Nutrition, Dietary Supplements, and other Nutrition and dietetics-related areas. Over the years, she led 21 CUs in bachelor’s, 4 in integrated master’s, and 11 in master’s programs. Her mentorship shines as she supervised 1 PhD, 2 master’s, 3 integrated master’s, and 19 bachelor students. Cíntia’s research focuses on the relationship between plant-based diets, body composition, metabolic markers, and cardiovascular health. Since 2019, she has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles in international journals, 2 book chapters, and an editorial, accumulating approximately 600 citations and having an h-index of 15 (Scopus, Mar 25). Her contributions include 74 abstracts published in indexed international journals and active involvement in 24 national and international grant proposals. She presented her work at numerous conferences, with more than 30 oral presentations and 96 posters, and participated in over 65 academic juris, including PhD defenses, master’s projects, and professional internships. Recently, in November 2024, the Project Met_BCCV (Metabolism, Body Composition and CardioVascular health), led by Cíntia Ferreira Pêgo as Principal Investigator, won the "Project of the Year - Research" award by the Viver Saudável initiative.
