Resume
Rebeca André holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (FCUL), and a Ph.D. in Systems Biology from the same institution. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Health Sciences and Technologies (ECTS), Universidade Lusófona, Lisbon, Portugal, where she is responsaible for Biochemistry I and II and Analytical Methods I. In 2023, Rebeca completed her PhD with the thesis titled "Molecules for Health: Cholesterol absorption and transporter proteins expression under the effect of bioactive molecules", exploring the impact of marine bioactives on cholesterol metabolism. She is also a Guest Editor for a Special Issue on "Natural Products in Gut Microbiome Modulation: From Mechanisms to Clinical Applications" for the Pharmaceutical Journal. Rebeca is committed to advancing research that supports the circular economy, particularly through the sustainable use of natural products. Her work aims to contribute to the development of innovative solutions that enhance scientific knowledge while promoting environmental sustainability and societal well-being.
