    The curricular unit (CU) aims to contribute to the understanding of the high value of disease prevention and treatment for public health, and of the historical milestones in the evolution of medical and pharmaceutical knowledge, as well as the means of intervention throughout global dissemination and, in particular, in the Iberian Peninsula. This UC also allows for monitoring the important role and secular boundaries of health care with nutrition, and the profession of the nutritionist in society, as well as for understanding the complementary dimensions of research in nutrition sciences and pharmaceutical sciences and their boundaries and contributions to ONE HEALTH from Antiquity to current society. In another aspect of the curricular unit, the methodological rules governing the carrying out of research and the production of scientific texts, individually or in collaboration, are taught.

    Objectives

    The aim of the curricular unit of History of Health and Contemporaneous Culture is not only to provide an historical perspective of medical and pharmaceutical practices but also to show the individuals, techniques and innovations that have contributed to the current state of these sciences. Understand and apply the methodological rules which conduct to the abiity to research and produce scientific texts either individually or in group.
