The Citology and Histology I unit studies the cells and tissues of the organism, using microscopes. In the pratical classes a microscope will be used to observe the different tissues. It is followed by Citology and Hitology II (in the second semester), where the content of this course is required to understand the constitution of the organs of the organism.

Objectives
Objectives
During the course it is intended that the student acquires knowledge to: 1. Understand the fundamentals of the methodology used in the preparation of cells and tissues to be studied by optical microscopy and electron microscopy; 2. Know the different types of microscopes and applications for each type. 3. Know how to properly handle an optical microscope, including the use of the immersion objective. 4. Know the structure and ultrastructure of cells and tissues of animals, with veterinary interest in order to achieve their correct identification, by observing the optical microscope; 5. Establish a relationship between the morphology and function of cells and tissues.
