Objectives
Objectives
The aim of this course is for students to carry out independent research, to know how to carry out in-depth bibliographical research, and to think about and carry out experiments in search of the appropriate methodologies for the question posed in their dissertation. The aim is to develop the student's critical thinking skills to evaluate and interpret scientific literature, identify gaps in knowledge and propose evidence-based solutions. The student will be integrated into interdisciplinary teams and should develop skills associated with solving problems associated with experimental design and data interpretation. Students will have the opportunity to learn how to communicate the results of their research clearly and effectively, either by writing a master's thesis or by presenting and discussing it orally.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Teaching methodologies and assessment
During the dissertation, students will have the opportunity to apply the disciplinary and transversal skills they acquired in the first year of the master's programme, developing and deepening their autonomy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, as well as their ability to communicate results. In this sense, students may choose to work in research laboratories in different organic units at Lusófona that collaborate with the master's degree, or in research projects developed in research laboratories within research centres recognised by the FCT (at Lusófona or in other institutions or associated laboratories) where the master's lecturers carry out their research or with whom they collaborate. The dissertation can also be carried out in industrial research projects, provided they are validated by the programme's management, or in ERASMUS projects.
