    Syllabus

    - Principles of echocardiography - utilities, indications and limitations. - B-Mode, M-Mode and Dopplers: basic principles. - Basic echocardiographic protocol I: how to do the projections. - Basic echocardiographic protocol II: most important measurements. - Direct parasternal views (long and short axis). - Left apical and parasternal views. - Mitral valve disease. - Dilated cardiomyopathy. - Feline cardiomyopathy. - Other frequent acquired pathologies in daily practice. - Ecographic protocol for the diagnosis of the main congenital diseases in the dog and cat.

    Objectives

    - Understand the basics of echocardiography - Acquire knowledge of of the heart and circulatory system ecographic anatomy in normal and sick patients. - Know how to perform an echocardiographic examination. - Develop the ability to quickly establish the differential diagnoses to consider, depending on the ecographic changes observed in an echocardiographic examination. - Know how to correctly write an echocardiographic examination report

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Theoretical and practical contents will be made available digitally after each class. The integration of theory and practice aims to enhance students' interest and understanding, while also providing up-to-date knowledge on scientific and technological innovations. Theoretical: Lectures using audiovisual resources, encouraging analysis, discussion, and critical thinking. Practical: Supervised classes focused on training in specific techniques, discussion of clinical cases, and interpretation of imaging exams. Emphasis on research, critical analysis, and report writing with close teacher supervision.
