Theorical: In vitro Fertilization in animal models Application of animal models: Portuguese Animal Germoplasm Bank Laboratory: Fertilization with several animal models gametes: male and female. Evaluation of in vitro embryo development in the several animal models.

Objectives
Objectives
In the end of this Curricular Unit (UC) the student should understand well in vitro fertilization using animal models, and also embryo culture and manipulation. It will also be expected for the student to understand well the need of using animal models, and which is the most adequate for the several studies. In the laboratory students will have the opportunity to familiarized with the gametes of the most used animal models, either for investigation or Assisted Reproduction training. These classes will also allow the student to acquire the hand skills for gamete and embryo manipulation.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
The UC classes may be given by e-learning and/or presencially, when possible, always with support of audiovisula media for better illustrate what is being discussed. Invited speakers will give seminars in specific subjects, presenting and discuss scientific papers. There is a laboratory compoment, as well, in which the student the gametas of several animal models.
