This Curricular Unit will allow the student comprehend the application of the theorical knowledge acquired previously. All in vitro manipulation techniques will be described in detaile, both at the level of the tecnique in itself and within the physico-chemical properties of preparation and culture of gametes and embryos.

Syllabus
Theorical: Fertilization techniques: in vitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) Zygote and embryo culture and manipulation Embryo selection and transfer Embryo biopsy Labotarory: In vitro fertilization, familirization with ICSI, PN check, embryo development observation. Embryo transfer selection and practice of embryo loading in the catheter.

Objectives
Objectives
In the end of this Curricular Unit (UC) the student should understand well all the in vitro fertilization techniques, and also embryo culture and manipulation. It should also be able to select quality embryos for transfer and be well familiarized with embryo biopsy. In the laboratory students will have the opportunity to to practice IVF and get familiarized with ICSI. It should also acquire the hand skills for embryo manipulation, including loading of a catheter for transfer.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
The UC has lectures given by invited speaker, experts in the specific subject. Class will be given by e-learning and/or presencially, when possible, always with support of audiovisula media for better illustrate what is being discussed. There is a laboratory component, as well, in which the student will be able to practice and familiarized with the in vitro fertilization techiniques (it will be used animal models).
