Presentation
The course provides the contact between students and several professionals working in areas linked with Environmental Engineering through a series of lecture sessions with guest speakers who may be from different backgrounds. Professors from Lusófona University or other universities, technicians from companies, municipalities, non-governmental organizations linked to the environment (NGO), Institutes (ICNF), etc. can be invited. Diverse and preferably current themes will be proposed. Whenever possible, sessions will be opened to increase reflection and discussion of themes that can be implemented in different models (lecture, seminar, wokshop, round table). Being a discipline in the of the master's degree, it is important to offer an integrating look of the various possible areas of action for Environmental Engineers.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Teaching methodologies and assessment
This curricular unit is structured for different assessment moments that will use different teaching-learning strategies/methods: 1) Classes of autonomous research of reliable platforms of scientific contents, elaboration of bibliography and learning of rules of scientific writing (articles, dissertations). The "independent work" method will be used; 2) In the expository sessions, experts present a topic, always supported by real case studies. Prior to the sessions, students are encouraged to research on the topic and develop a number of questions. At the end, students are encouraged to ask the questions previously elaborated or new questions relevant to the discussion/reflection. In these sessions the "flipped classroom" methodology is used; 3) Oral presentation of a topic by the students to their peers/teachers and joint discussion, based on the "peer teaching" and "peer feedback" method.
