This course unit aims to: -Provide a view of the different modes of interpretation in film and television throughout history. -Show different methodologies of directing actors in their relation with the audiovisual image -Explore the relationship between the director and the actor in casting, rehearsals and shooting. -Increase the ability to direct actors through games, exercises and rehearsals.

1. The work actor in theatre, film and television. 2. Character creation: characteristics, backstory, research. 3. Study of the scene: objectives, action, dialogue, subtext, time and rhythm. 4. Composition of the scene: movement and mise-en-scene. 5. Working with non-professional actors and children. 6. Casting and auditioning techniques. 7. Readings, games and essays. 8. Meyerhold's formalism and Eisenstein's typing.Griffith's naturalism and Renoir's realism.The models of Robert Bresson.Stanislavki and affective memory. The Actors Studio and Method.John Cassavetes and improvisation.

At the end of this course the student should be able to: -Complete and implement the various stages of the actor-direction process -Use different techniques and methodologies of directing actor for audiovisual -Identify and understand different approaches to representation throughout the history of cinema

Teaching methodologies and assessment
The classes have a theoretical-practical nature, with the presentation of the programmatic contents done orally by the teacher with occasional use of projection of complementary audiovisual elements and debate with students. Various practical exercises are carried out to consolidate knowledge.
