Objectives
Exercises are one of the most important training tools in the most varied areas of intervention. In the area of civil protection, this premise is even more valid, as it allows testing, in a simulated environment, tactical, operational and strategic level procedures, essential for the full fulfillment of the mission of all Forces and Services with competence in the matter, identifying failures and constraints which, if they were to occur in a real situation, would almost always have very negative effects. Civil protection exercises thus create opportunities for improvement in planning the response to serious accidents or catastrophes. The exercises are learning processes, made up of several distinct stages, where students learn to organize and develop them, as an integrated and continuous process that aims to enable them to permanently improve in a given civil protection sector or organization. their performance levels.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Teaching is based on the presentation and discussion of theoretical-practical content, focused on real situations. Students are expected to conduct research, critical analysis, and develop practical cases, encouraging independent study. Study visits to civil protection entities are planned. An interdisciplinary project (P2I) will be developed in groups, involving three course units and based on real territories. The project includes risk mapping, an intervention plan, and a simulation, promoting transversal skills and a holistic perspective. It is assessed by a jury with individual grading per course unit.
