The Aesthetics and Theory of Arts, is located in the philosophical and phenomenological approach of Aesthetics in the field of Fine Arts, and subsequently in the field of Design. His study enhances knowledge in the area of Arts and Design, enunciating and articulating the arguments and philosophical antecedents of Aesthetics, in the problems of interpretation and representation of the Contemporary World.

- Introduction to the Platonic definition of the beautiful, and of Art as mimesis. - Art criticism in the paradigm of Modernity: Kantian aesthetics; and Art as a possibility of representation. - Aesthetics, the relationship between Man, and the perception of the Real: Hegel, Art as a dialectical representation of the real, and the end of art; Nietzsche's relativism and perspectivism, tragedy, and Art as an intensification of experience; Adorno, Art as a transformation of the real, and the questioning of the place of Modernity; Walter Benjamin and “The Work of Art in the Age of its Technical Reproducibility2; Lyotard and experimentation as a privileged mode of creative action in postmodernity; Derrida and the deconstruction of discourse within the limits of representation; Danto and the becoming-concept of the work of art. - The aesthetic trends manifested in the evolution of Design.

Objectives
Objectives
- To promote through conceptual instruments, the exercise of critical and informed reflection that has as its object the artistic creation. - To promote critical autonomy and conceptual discourse in the representation of the real. - To interrogate art from the notion of representation, and to understand it, as a historical and culturally situated phenomenon. - To locate the evolution of Design and its relations with the aesthetic tendencies that preceded and followed it. - To develop a critical posture, within contemporary visual culture.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
The philosophical contents that should ideally come from extensive readings, readings that far exceed the hours dedicated to the credits assigned, are alternatively rescued from the viewing of key filmography, which illustrates the questions proposed and encourages the debate necessary to acquire the skills described above .
