    This Curriculum Unit comprises a set of themes through which it is intended to develop the concept, logic and evolution of citizenship; train for the notion and practice of being a European citizen and also understand the position of citizens of third countries (in the different statutes) in the European space. In addition, the student must also know the law of Portuguese nationality and portuguese citizenship, among others to be selected for study, in order to better understand the relationship between the national and European levels.

    Objectives

    Provide understanding and knowledge of the concept of citizenship and explore the principles on which citizenship and European citizenship are based; the rights that underlie it, the practices and the possibilities that correspond to it within the European Union and in each of its member states (in conjunction with nationality laws).
  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Written work in the format of a scientific article accompanied by an oral presentation by the student followed by a debate between the lecturer and the rest of the students. The aim is to simulate the environment of a dissertation defence, with the student justifying his/her options, time frame, methodology and the added value of the work in relation to the existing literature.
