The CU Biomechanics of Sport is part of the 1st cycle in Physical Education and Sport. It aims to provide basic and updated knowledge regarding the main issues of Biomechanics applied to exercise/physical activity. It is intended that students know the biomechanical implications underlying the practice of different types of exercise/physical activity. This knowledge is crucial for performance in guiding high sports performance (improvement in sports technique) and injury prevention. Furthermore, it is expected that students have basic knowledge about the mechanical laws that govern human movement and through understanding and interpreting different experimental methods they can identify strategies to increase sports performance and minimize the risk of injuries.

Objectives
Objectives
It is intended that students acquire knowledge and skills that allow them to identify, characterize, evaluate and apply the fundamental biomechanical principles that are decisive in the sporting context. By defining the learning objectives (LO), it is intended that students who attend this CU: LO1) acquire basic knowledge of the History of Sports Biomechanics; LO2) understand the biomechanical and neuromuscular characteristics of the musculoskeletal system and its adaptation to training; LO3) acquire and interpret the fundamentals of mechanics in case studies with real data from different sports movements; LO4) Know, interpret and apply the different experimental methods used in biomechanics;

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Different teaching methodologies (TM) will be used: Classes of an expository nature (TM1): Resolution of practical cases (TM2), Viewing and discussion of videos (TM3), Bibliographic research (TM4), Analysis of scientific articles (TM5), Activities in a small group (TM6), Feedback information provided by the teacher about the work carried out (TM7).
