  • Syllabus

    Syllabus

Programmatic Content (CP)1. Cell Biology and Genetics - Structural and functional organization of the eukaryotic cell - Cell Organelles - Biological membranes - structure, function and transport - General genetic bases CP2.Biochemistry and Metabolism - Basic principles of bioenergetics - Carbohydrate Metabolism - Lipid Metabolism - Protein Metabolism - Biotransformation and interaction between energy systems CP3. Biochemistry and Cell Biology applied to research in Sports Biology
  • Objectives

    Objectives

It is intended that students acquire skills that allow them to identify and characterize the cellular structural organization, as well as the mechanisms associated with biochemical and bioenergetic functionality, in order to enable knowledge bases to develop skills in future curricular units. Defining the learning objectives (LO), it is intended that students who attend this CU: OA1) understand and discriminate the role and function of different cellular components and cellular dynamics; OA2) understand the interrelationship established between the different cell compartments; OA3) describe the intrinsic chemical reactions associated with different metabolic pathways of energy production; OA4) understand the limiting and conditioning factors of energy production through different metabolic pathways and OA5) understand the relevance and applicability of the contents of the discipline in research applied to Sport Biology.
  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

Different teaching methodologies (TM) will be used: Classes of an expository nature (TM1): Viewing and discussion of documentaries/videos (TM2), Feedback information provided by the teacher about the work developed (TM3).
