  • Objectives

    Objectives

    In this course unit the students acquire knowledge and understand the basic concepts of nutrition, identifythe elements of food and food supplements and their role in physical exercise. As learning objectives (LO) defined in this UC students should: LO1. Understand the basic concepts of nutrition, metabolism, spending and energy needs; LO2. Understand and identify the nutritional constituents of foods, their functions, properties, metabolism and biological functions; LO3. Know the nutritional recommendations according to sex, age and condition; LO4. Understand the role of nutrients in exercise; LO5. Define food supplements and know the underlying legislation; LO6. Identify food supplements and understand their effects on exercise.
  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Different teaching methodologies (ME) will be used: Expository classes (ME1): Resolution of practical cases (ME2), Viewing and discussion of documentaries/videos (ME3), Bibliographic research (ME4), Analysis of scientific articles (ME5) , Small group activities (ME6), Feedback information provided by the teacher about the work carried out (ME7).
