Objectives
Objectives
To develop the ability to perform elementary statistical analysis of data, introcuding students to fundamental notions of descriptive statistics, probabilities and random variables. At the end of the curricular unit, student should be able to: - create a database, based on questionnaires, using statistical software - organize and summarize data - perform a descriptive analysis of a data set - solve problems involving the calculation of probabilities and random variables - carry out the procedures of the previous three points with and without statistical software - evaluate and criticize the performed analyzes

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Teaching methodologies and assessment
The proposed teaching methodologies integrate a set of pedagogical innovation practices based on evidence and adjusted to the objectives and contents of the curricular unit. Classes will be of theoretical and practical nature, where the theoretical exposition of the syllabus is accompanied by the presentation of practical examples and problem solving, namely through statistical software, in individual or small group activities with teacher feedback. Students will be exposed to interactive educational resources, such as quizzes and the articulation with other curricular units, namely Quantitative Research Methods, will be evidenced. The evaluation is carried out taking into account the assessment regulation "Regulamento Geral de Avaliação da Universidade Lusófona" (see Avaliação - Instrumentos e Parâmetros de Avaliação).
