Resume

I completed my PhD in Economics at the School of Economics and Management, University of Porto (FEP), in January 2021. Since February 2022, I have been collaborating with Universidade Lusófona do Porto. Additionally, I have worked at FEP, Porto Business School, and Águeda School of Technology and Management, University of Aveiro. My teaching experience in economics is extensive, encompassing several introductory courses (such as Introduction to Economics, Macroeconomics, and Political Economics) and specialised courses (including Monetary Economics, International Economics, Public Finance, and Regional Economics). I have also delivered economics lectures to diverse audiences, including economic and business students, law students, and executives. A key strength of mine as a professor is my ability to effortlessly demystify complex economic concepts for a broad audience. Consequently, I have regularly appeared in the media (television and newspapers) since 2021 to analyse economic developments. I have authored eleven scientific articles published in international and Portuguese journals. My most cited work, "The Use of Game Theory in Regional Economics: a quantitative retrospective", has received twelve citations and was published in Papers in Regional Science, a leading journal in the field. Leveraging my econometrics expertise, I have contributed to research in other scientific domains (primarily politics, medicine, and sports), resulting in several presentations at international conferences and the publication of eleven scientific articles. In 2014, I co-founded a start-up that utilises machine learning and macroeconometric techniques to predict commodity prices. Filipe Grilo, 14-02-2024
