Since 2010, Hugo Barbosa has been teaching Informatics Engineering at the Lusófona University – Porto University Center, and more recently at Porto Polytechnic (IPP), where he shares his practical and theoretical knowledge with students in the field of informatics. His teaching role is complemented by strong involvement in applied research. He collaborates with the Social Innovation and Interactive Systems (SIIS), an R&D unit from ISEP and hosted by Porto Polytechnic, focusing on the development of medical learning methodologies through interactive applications. This work ranges from creating multimedia systems to applying innovative methods to optimize practical learning in virtual environments. Currently, he is a PhD. candidate in Informatics Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of Porto (FEUP), where he deepens his studies and research in serious games, virtual reality, simulation, player adaptability, as well as essential topics in cybersecurity and computer networks. His research focuses on developing interactive experiences that not only enhance user experience but also promote the practical application of learning and training theories in simulated environments. The combination of practical and theoretical expertise, along with his teaching experience and active role in research projects, reflects a professional engaged at the intersection of technology and education. His expertise in serious games and virtual reality not only underscores his commitment to innovation but also highlights his interest in exploring how these technologies can transform learning experiences, especially in medical and engineering contexts. His work contributes to advancing methodologies that assist in skill development and comprehension, providing a richer, more adaptive experience tailored to individual user needs. With a career marked by constant innovation and advancement, he continues to expand his skills and apply his knowledge to projects that integrate computer networks, multimedia systems, and simulation environments. This commitment to technological evolution positions him as a leading professional in informatics engineering and a dedicated educator preparing new generations of professionals for the challenges of the future.
