Jorge Rafael Nogueira Raposo completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering with unanimous honor and distinction from the University of Coimbra in 2016. He has published several articles and book chapters in specialised international journals. He co-authored the reports on the major fires in Portugal in 2012, 2013, 2017 and 2020. Between 2010 and 2025 he took part in 25 research projects, being responsible for submitting the applications for many of them. He was involved in preparing and submitting the application for the European project FIREEURISK (10 Meuros; 2021-2025), as a member of the research team; he was the Principal Investigator of the FCT project MCFIRE (200 keuros; 2018-2022). He is an integrated member of Ci2 - Smart Cities Research Centre; he carries out research in Engineering and Technology with an emphasis on Mechanical Engineering, the study of Fire and Asset Maintenance. In 2022 he was awarded the Manby Prize - Best paper ICT/GIS/BIM and in 2015 he was awarded the Cyprus Best Poster Award. In his professional activities, he has interacted with 45 other collaborators in co-authoring scientific papers. He is a regular reviewer for three leading international journals on the subject of rural fires. He is Invited Adjunt Professor at the Polytechnic of Tomar since January 2023. He is a member of the Order of Engineers.
