Resume
Maria da Luz Maia is a researcher at the Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF), located at Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP). She earned her degree in Biology from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto, in 2008, followed by a Master’s in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Aveiro in 2012. In 2017, she was awarded an FCT PhD scholarship and successfully completed her PhD in Sustainable Chemistry at the University of Porto in 2022. Currently, Maria is a postdoctoral researcher at CBQF/UCP working on the OakFood project. Her prolific academic contributions include 21 publications in international peer-reviewed (ISI) journals, with 10 as first author, as well as co-authorship of five book chapters. She has authored/co-authored 12 oral presentations and showcased 30 poster communications at national and international scientific meetings. In addition, she serves as an invited adjunct professor at the Polytechnic of Porto, a reviewer for scientific journals, and an Editorial Board member of Scientific Reports. Maria’s research focuses on promoting environmental quality and sustainability through the study of food matrices, assessing the risk-benefit effects of their consumption, and exploring the valorization of by-products.
