Debate 100th anniversary of the birth of Mário Soares
Lusófona University celebrates the 100th anniversary of Mário Soares' birth
The Lusófona University celebrates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mário Soares, a unique figure in the history of Portuguese democracy.
Mário Soares (1924-2017), an unavoidable figure in the national political scene, left a memorable legacy in the political, intellectual, and social spheres of the country. A lawyer, politician, and writer, he was one of the main responsible for the democratic transition in Portugal, having been a protagonist of crucial moments in our history, such as the founding of the Socialist Party (1973), his participation in the Carnation Revolution (1974), and his terms as Prime Minister (1976-1978 and 1983-1985) and President of the Republic (1986-1996).
In this context, the Lusófona University will pay tribute to Mário Soares by organizing a day of activities that allow not only to remember but also to understand and value his legacy.
We invite the entire Lusophone Community to participate in this event.
