Seminary 14th Seminar on Groundwater
Celebrating 30 years of the Portuguese Water Resources Association with debates on innovation, management and preservation of groundwater
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
The 14th Seminar on Groundwater, organised by the Specialised Commission on Groundwater of the Portuguese Water Resources Association (APRH) and the International Association of Hydrogeology - Portuguese Group (IAH-PG), celebrates 30 years of reflection, research, and development on the management, protection, and quality of groundwater. The event will take place on 5 and 6 December 2024 at the Lusófona University - Lisbon University Centre, addressing advancements in the field and sustainable solutions for the preservation and utilisation of groundwater resources.
This will be a unique opportunity to revisit the issues and solutions that have shaped the past 30 years, discuss the impacts of climate change on groundwater quality, and share new practices and technologies to ensure the future sustainability of water resources. In addition to thematic sessions, the seminar will feature roundtables and debates on the evolution of the topic over the last three decades.
Objectives
The 14th Seminar aims to celebrate 30 years of discussions on groundwater, revisiting scientific, technological, and management solutions that have marked the sector. Furthermore, the event seeks to address future challenges, focusing on the degradation of water quality due to human activities, such as urban expansion, industrial development, and intensified agriculture, as well as the impacts of climate change.
