Conference TiSSA 2025: Re-imagining Social Work and Social Justice

The 21st edition of the International Social Work & Society Academy Conference (TiSSA) will take place at Universidade Lusófona - Centro Universitário Porto and will serve as a space for reflection and debate on contemporary challenges in Social Work and Social Justice. The event consists of two parts:

• PhD-Pre Conference: 29 – 31 August 2025
• Plenum Conference: 1 – 3 September 2025

Under the theme "Re-imagining Social Work and Social Justice: The Nexus of Theory, Practice, and Dissent", the conference aims to explore how research and practice in Social Work can act as instruments of social transformation and critical resistance.

Abstract Submission – Deadline extended to 21 March 2025

Submissions are open for researchers, professionals, and PhD students interested in presenting at the conference.

• Individual Presentations: Abstract up to 3,000 characters (approximately 500 words)
• Symposia: Abstract up to 6,000 characters (approximately 1,000 words)

PhD ACT 2025 – Online Training Programme

In addition to the conference, the International Social Work & Society Academy (TiSSA) organises PhD ACT 2025, an international online course for PhD students, focusing on the relationship between theory and practice in Social Work.
