Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
Dayana Lucas (Caracas, 1987) lives and works in Porto. The artist develops a practical research practice in drawing, with a particular interest in its transition to sculpture, using materials such as concrete, wood, and metal. In parallel, she works as a designer in the cultural field, collaborating with musicians, visual artists, and various Portuguese cultural institutions.
She co-founded Oficina Arara, where, until 2017, she worked in design and manual printing techniques, while also organising exhibitions, workshops, and gatherings with Porto’s artistic community. Since 2010, she has collaborated with the collective SOOPA and, in 2019, founded ORINOCO, a project dedicated to publishing artists’ books and other creative editions.
Her solo exhibitions include Um at Wrong Weather Gallery (2018), Espírito Manual at Serralves Museum (2018), Pedra em Flor at Sismógrafo (2019), and Negro Secreto at Lehmann + Silva Gallery (2019). In recent years, she has also taken part in several group exhibitions at venues such as CIAJG – Centro Internacional das Artes José de Guimarães (Guimarães, Portugal); Bienal de Arte Contemporânea da Maia (Maia, Portugal); PORTA33 (Funchal, Portugal); and Sesc Pompéia (São Paulo, Brazil).
