Conference Meeting on Psychogerontology and Mental Health: The Role of Technology

Artificial Intelligence and its importance in the Ageing Process

Start February 28 | 09h00 End February 28 | 18h00

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly present in the field of health, in terms of procedures, treatments, research and development, and mental health in the ageing process is no exception. The intersection between mental health and AI is a complex phenomenon that is constantly and rapidly evolving.

That said, with the presence and participation of Tânia Gaspar, Jorge Oliveira, Sofia Sousa, Marta Barata, Maria João Quintal and Sandro Jorge, the "Psychogerontology and Mental Health: The Role of Technology" meeting, to be held on 28 February, aims to reflect on and promote debate about the opportunities and challenges of using AI, both to promote mental health and well-being in the ageing process.

This use has the potential to provide significant benefits, such as increased accessibility and early detection. However, it also presents challenges, including privacy concerns, bias and the risk of replacing essential human connections. The development and responsible use of these innovations must carefully consider these factors and prioritise ethical, safe and person-centred practices.
