The program contents of this curricular unit are developed around the critical aspects of understanding, analyzing and planning airport business activity, from a short, medium and long term perspective, meeting the industry's challenges in relation to the environment, efficient resource management and sustainability. The particular nature of this activity poses specific challenges that students must become aware of as well as the different options that arise. Regarding the same options, they will learn to formulate points of view based on the respective advantages and associated disadvantages. Understand the economic and environmental issues faced by companies involved in the airport business; strategies regarding different types of aviation business and standards of passenger requirements and airline operations; manage resource allocation according to demand.

Objectives
The program contents of this curricular unit are developed around the critical aspects of both the financing of airport infrastructure and the remuneration for services provided by airport managers. The particular nature of this activity and its close relationship with the concept of public service poses specific challenges that students must become aware of, as well as the different options that arise. Regarding the same options, they will learn to formulate points of view based on the respective advantages and associated disadvantages. At the end of the semester, students should have developed skills that allow them to understand mandatory and optional aspects inherent to the management of the airport business economy in accordance with European standards and ICAO recommendations.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
At the end of the semester, students should have developed skills that allow them to understand the principles and concepts inherent to the Planning and Management of Activities inherent to the Airport Business Economy, in a sustainable way. It is intended that students acquire knowledge and develop skills and competencies in the area of Airport Planning and Management, taking into account the specificities of the heavily regulated sector, in order to allow the adoption of better strategies aimed at improving performance and economic-financial returns, greetings industry regulatory requirements. Overall, the pedagogical-didactic strategies adopted aim to respond to the objectives outlined for the successful learning of the Curricular Unit, such as: implementation of simulation exercises, analysis of industry case studies, in order to stimulate a taste for student knowledge and involvement in the learning process.
