Objectives
Objectives
In this curricular unit (UC), the student will acquire the basic knowledge in pharmacology and toxicology, essential for a correct training in the area of Health. The theme of pharmacologically active substances and their role in changing pathophysiological mechanisms will be introduced. Students should master the terminology of Pharmacology, know the basic principles of pharmacokinetics and be able to describe the main mechanisms of pharmacological action. The UC also intends to provide fundamental knowledge of Toxicology, especially directed to aspects related to the use of medicines, food supplements and health products. This UC will also contribute to the development of transversal skills such as the ability to work in groups, critical thinking, exposure and communication of scientific topics.
