Presentation
The course of Inorganic Pharmaceutical Chemistry is intended to acquire knowledge related to the physicochemical properties of the Periodic Table of elements in particular the elements of the main group of the Periodic Table. The aspects of the therapeutic application of compounds involved in some of these elements will be studied. Metal complexes studies considering the drug action and the biological systems as well as chemotherapy with compounds of some non-essential elements (such as Pt) will also be addressed. The final part of the program will present the introduction to the study of radiopharmaceuticals.

Objectives
Objectives
In the course of Inorganic Pharmaceutical Chemistry is intended that students acquire knowledge related to the physicochemical properties of the Periodic Table of elements in particular the elements of the main group of the Periodic Table. Where possible these are aspects of the therapeutic application of compounds involved in some of these elements. Metal complexes studies considering the drug action and the biological systems as well as chemotherapy with compounds of some non-essential elements (such as Pt) will also be addressed. In the final phase of the program will be presented the introduction to the study of radiopharmaceuticals

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Teaching methodologies and assessment
The Inorganic Medicinal Chemistry course comprises theoretical and laboratory classes, with the aim of transmitting fundamental knowledge about the physical and chemical properties of the elements of the Periodic Table and their therapeutic applications. The theoretical classes, valuing the basic concepts, encourage active participation by students, stimulating critical and independent thinking. The teaching material will be made available on the Moodle platform. The laboratory work allows the practical application of theoretical knowledge, involving the identification and preparation of simple pharmaceutical compounds and their quality control. The unit includes a field project, with a study visit that offers a practical view of the real applications of these compounds. The tutorial teaching develops research and critical analysis skills.
