Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired
Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired
As with any engineering school, the engineering profile to be obtained at the end of this training course that is extended over two cycles, is essentially more suitable to a profile applied during the first cycle. It is extended to a more advanced profile at the end of the second cycle, which aims to train professionals and researchers that are capable of assuming leadership positions in engineering projects, integrating teams involved in technology-based innovative activities, as well as promoting socially valid and innovative research projects.

This licentiate degree corresponds to the first cycle of a training profile on engineering that spans two cycles that correspond to a total of ten semesters (3+2 years) that confer 180 ECTS (first cycle) and 120 ECTS (second cycle), respectively. The licentiate degree in Computer Engineering aims to produce a professional profile of the software engineer, which is characterized by specialists with a broad ability to understand and design major computer engineering projects, lead teams that develop information technology-related projects and manage and maintain information systems. The diploma also presents an in-depth training in areas related to Engineering, such as Physics and Mathematics, and in specific fields of Computing Engineering, such as the Methodology of Programming, Information Systems, Communications Networks, and management of both systems as projects. The trained specialists will for this reason be characterized by their solid training in the area of information technology, thus we consider the following skills to be essential: mastery of the principles and methodologies of programming, the ability to design and manage information systems, design and maintain computer networks and distributed systems, design, maintenance and analysis of the implementation of solutions for databases, manipulate multimedia information, analyze and process mathematical information and apply the same in the field of computing, as well as possess the ability to manage project teams. The graduate students in Computer Engineering will find employment situations within the European network of public and private organizations that need to development, make use of, reorganize and update their information systems, namely: oriented companies in the development and commercialization of computer-based solutions, integration and team leadership on large computer companies in the sectors of trade, industry or services, in public institutions linked to state or private sector, particularly in the area of services.
