Using graphical representations of data facilitates its understanding and pattern discovery. One of the considerations to take into account when designing data visualizations is how to represent the data, given the visualization goal. This course covers this process by combining the fundamentals of information visualization with the corresponding implementation.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
This course has a strong practical componente, which is combined with the theoretical fundamentals. Therefore, for each of the topics covered, the classes start with a discussion moment, in which a challenge, related with the topic, is presented to the students. The theoretical fundamentals are then introduced in an explanatory format. To close each topic, the implementation of the initial challenge is introduced, in a tutorial approach.
