The course of Electrical Circuits I is held in the 1st year / 1st semester of graduation on Electrical Engineering - Power Systems. This course aims to develop skills in structural analysis of electrical circuits, but the techniques presented can be applied in the analysis of other systems.

Syllabus
DC circuits Components of electrical circuits. Ohm's and Kirchhoff's laws. Resitors in series and parallel. Voltage and current division. Resitive ladder network. Node equations. Loop and mesh equations. Superposition, Thévenin and Norton theorems. Maximum power transfer. Star-Delta transformation. Systems with sinusoidal inputs Complex numbers. Phasor. Linear systems with sinusoidal inputs, inductances and capacitances. Sinusoidal impedance and admittance. Kirchhoff's law in complex notation. Thévenin and Norton equivalent circuits. Ressonance. Power and power factor. Ideal transformer and mutual inductance. Measuring Instruments Ammeter. Voltmeter. Ohmmeter. Watt-meter. Balanced three-phase circuits Star-star with and without neural, star-delta, delta-delta and delta-star connections. Power in three phase systems.

Objectives
Objectives
It is intended that students will be able to: - know the fundamental principles of eletric circuit analysis, - analyse electrical circuits based on their modeling, - identify the most expedient analysis method for each electric circuit, - identidy and choose the necessary connections of the instrumentation that allows verifying in a real circuit the predicted value for the electrical quantities. And also that they: - use technical-scientific notation/language correctly, - communicate adequately in the Portuguese language and develip an interest in the English language, - develop the ability to work in a team.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Not all students start this course at the beginning of the semester, due to various circumstances. Therefore, it is essential to use active learning techniques in order to better integrate all students. In theoretical-practical classes, students work in groups, encouraging mutual help and mutual knowledge. Flipped classroom techniques are also used, which allow students to assess their difficulties and overcome them.
