1. General considerations about the functioning of the course: objectives, program, work methodology, assessment method and bibliography. 2. The objectives, competences of the Union and their relationship to the European Union's public policies. 3. The historical evolution of the process of European integration and the emergence / consolidation of European Union Public Policies. 4. The Union decision-making process and decision-making under Union policies. 5. The financial perspective of the European Union and its impact on EU policies. 6. Europe's current and future challenges and their impact on EU policies. 7. Framework for sectoral and horizontal policies: legal basis, brief historical developments, current objectives and challenges. 8. Framework for citizenship policies and external relations policies: legal basis, brief historical evolution, current objectives and challenges.

Objectives
Objectives
This course aims to provide students with theories and fundamental concepts as well as the guidelines of the main areas of intervention of the European Union defined as European Union Policies. Given the theoretical component of this course unit, emphasis will be given to the exposition and the support materials for the study. Students will be provided with a carefully compiled set of texts and sources to address different Community policies with regard to the legal basis, historical developments, major diplomas and current challenges. In this way, students will be expected to acquire a solid knowledge of Community policies, to be able to relate them to the process of European integration and to our country.
