    This curricular unit introduces conceptual bases and analyzes the comprehensiveness and importance of emotional intelligence (EI), leading students to explore their different competencies and the impacts of their practical application, both in professional and management contexts, as in personal life. In addition to this, the understanding of the impact of EI on the level of emotions in organizations is promoted, both at the level of teams and at the macro level of policies and practices that may have an impact on each individual.

    1. Background to emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence and decision making. Emotions as dimensions that allow the understanding and adaptation to reality. Emotions in organizations. 2. Concept of "emotional literacy". Primary emotions and social emotions. Emotional intelligence skills. 3. Self-awareness. Recognizing your own emotions. Understanding the causes and consequences of emotions. 4. Emotional self-regulation. Emotional regulation strategies. 5. Self-motivation. The importance of positive emotions. The flow state. 6. The social skills of emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence at work. 7. Emotionally intelligent communication. How to hear. Inspire confidence. 8. Emotional intelligence and leadership. Emotionally intelligent managers. 9. Personal action plan on emotional intelligence.

    Objectives

    - Identify emotional intelligence role as understanding and adaptation to reality, both in personal context as an operational tool to effectively manage problems in social and work contexts. - Recognizing emotional literacy importance and identifying and characterizing different emotional intelligence competencies, according to Goleman model and Salovey and Mayer model. - Develop a positive attitude in decision making, exploring emotional skills application in personal and professional life. - Understand control emotions instruments importance, solving problems of crisis, conflicts and changes in people management context. - Understand the role of emotions in organizations, both in terms of teams and in terms of human resource management practices and policies.

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Through an active method, students should develop a diagnosis of their level of emotional intelligence, and based on the instruments provided, develop a report aimed at implementing strategies for personal change and development of self-regulation skills that guarantee the maximization of intelligence emotional.
