    Ethics and Security is an optional curricular unit of the degree course in Internal Security Studies, taught every semester in the 2nd year. It proposes the study of ethics associated with professional behavior. This curricular unit promotes the study of deontology and an understanding of the relationship between ethical behavior and security.

    1. Define, frame and relate the concepts of Ethics and Security. 2. Analytically identify the various branches of Ethics. 3. Identify the codes of ethics in the area of internal security. 4. Develop argumentative skills in analyzing the relationship between security and ethics. 5. To problematize the main ethical challenges in the context of internal security and global security.
  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    The methods to be used will essentially be expository and interrogative, taking into account the nature of the subjects. The teaching techniques to be used will be: the exposition technique; the brainstorming technique; the case study technique; the group work technique and the debate technique.The course unit will have continuous assessment with analysis of attendance and participation and the completion of a final assignment with the respective presentation. The final grade will be awarded on the basis of the following parameters:Attendance and participation - 10%Written work and oral presentation -  90% Students who do not obtain a mark of 10 or more in the Final Assessment will have to take an Exam.
