Class Aquatic Activities - Adaptation to Aquatic Environment, Swimming and Hydro-gymnastics (Option I - Exercise and Wellness)

  • Presentation

    Presentation

Portugal is undoubtedly connected to water, an element that constitutes 50% of its frontiers, where access to the river spaces grows and in which the built aquatic spaces have proliferated since the decade 90. In these spaces, the aquatic activities associated with leisure and the promotion of welfare play an important role that justifies the preparation of specialized technicians who, harmoniously, integrate into the foundations of their intervention, in addition to the competencies of a safe leadership, the biomechanical, physiological and pedagogical assumptions and also the human development knowledge, as well as a knowledge of the professional context to perceive its sustainability.

It is sought that the student demonstrate leadership competencies on the different forms of aquatic activity in the swimming pool: the aquatic education, the swimming teaching and learning process in the fitness context, the intervention in the field of aquatic exercise and with special populations, based on the promotion of a capacity for diagnostic evaluation of the subjects, in the scientifically reasoned planning and in the development of the leadership capacity of the activity during its Implementation. It is also sought that the student be knowledgeable of the real and concrete contexts where the activities happen, knowing the criteria of their quality, as well as the criteria of their economic sustainability.
