The Theory and Methodology of Training may be considered a Curricular Unit (CU) unifying previously taught subjects, being applicable to all areas of the degree. In this CU students should dominate essential skills in the process of prescribing and evaluating physical exercise, by applying loads appropriate to the stage of development of each practitioner (Athlete, Student or practitioner). The load application process presupposes a broad set of general and specific knowledge and skills, the results of which translate into complex short, medium and long-term adaptive processes. Thus, the domination of materials corresponding to the Motor Capabilities - Strength, Strength, Speed, Flexibility and Coordination-, from the technical-tactical components, to the process of observation and evaluation, embodied in the processes of periodization in the long, medium and short term, will be absolutely vital for success in this CU.

Objectives
Objectives
The U.C. Its essential objective is to promote the acquisition of knowledge and skills necessary for the intervention of the teacher/coach, in the context of the training and competition process, in the different stages of the training of the athlete, student or practitioner. Its main learning objectives are: a. Mastering and relating the contents of training theory, relating them to the specifics of each branch and/or modality, in the historical, technical-tactical and organizational plans. b. Prescribe training programs, organizing and managing the entire training process (and competition, even if informal), namely in the development of motor skills. c. Use terminology and intervention strategies appropriate to different situations – for each modality, specificity or branch. d. Cooperate in the elaboration, development and evaluation of the institutions' sports project. e. Identify each phase and moment of the practitioner's development, using appropriate assessment methods.

The methodologies to support the teaching-learning process will be as follows: All subjects will be made available in short videos, posted on Moodle The master classes will be for discussing the subjects - previously made available - and for evaluating basic content. They will also serve as a test for frequencies. The practical classes will target the operationalization of assessment processes and development of motor skills. The Theoretical-Practical classes will be for discussing the subjects, presenting work and preparing a "Planning Project for a Sports Season"
