The Curricular Unit of Sports Organization and Managment is part of the curricular plan of the 1st Cycle in Physical Education and Sport and allows students to present the National and International Sports System, namely the different organizations and documents that govern it. Through research and collection of normative information related to the area of Sport and Physical Activities, students will know and recognize the different documents, national and international, that regulate Sport. They will be able to master the factors and stages of organizing sporting events and in this way they will be able to define, plan, organize and implement an action plan for a sporting event or activity.

Objectives
1. Consolidate knowledge related to the sports phenomenon and its extensions and specificities. 2. Characterize Sport from a systemic and organizational perspective. 3. Characterize and understand the regulatory framework of the European and Portuguese sports system, considering the European and national guiding references. 4. Present the fundamental principles of activities related to sports organization and management. 5. Characterize sport management as a professional intervention area, identifying the main functions and associated skills. 6. Identify the sports market. 7. Introduce the basic theoretical assumptions in the areas of organizational development, marketing and sports event management.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Different teaching methodologies (ME) will be used: Viewing and discussing documentaries/videos (ME1), Small group activities (ME2), Feedback provided by the teacher on the work developed (ME3).
