Presentation
To present Adapted Sport, its historical evolution, and the conceptual framework of inclusive practice. To base the intervention on the biopsychosocial model and the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). To analyze the different scopes of intervention — Educational, Therapeutic, Recreational, and Competitive — and the practical methodologies for adaptation. To provide knowledge of the functional classification systems that ensure sports equity and the intervention strategies for specific populations, including motor, visual, and intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Down Syndrome, and dementia.

PC1 - CONCEPTUAL AND HISTORICAL FRAMEWORK: Historical evolution (international and national), definition, and principles (Inclusion, Adaptation) of Adapted Sport. Analysis of the approach models (Clinical, Social, Biopsychosocial) and the concept of SEN (Special Educational Needs). PC2 - SCOPES OF INTERVENTION: Analysis of the Educational, Therapeutic, Recreational, and Competitive axes. PC3 - ASSESSMENT OF FUNCTIONALITY: Study and analysis of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) as an assessment tool. PC4 - INCLUSION AND CLASSIFICATION MODELS: Adaptation methodologies (STEP, TREE) and systems for participation and functional classification. PC5 - SPECIFIC INTERVENTION STRATEGIES: Adaptation for Dementia (CRIE model), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Down Syndrome. PC6 - PRACTICAL COMPONENT: Planning and application of adapted sports activities and modalities.

Objectives
Objectives
By the end of this Curricular Unit, the student will be able to: • LO1: Describe the reality of adapted sport in Portugal, including its historical evolution, its scopes of intervention (educational, therapeutic, recreational, and competitive), and the main national and international organizations. • LO2: Understand the biopsychosocial model and the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) as a basis for assessing functionality and planning intervention in adapted sport. • LO3: Analyze and apply functional classification systems specific to different sports modalities, with the objective of ensuring competitive equity. • LO4: Develop skills to plan and adapt physical and sports activities for populations with specific needs.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Different teaching methodologies (TM) will be used: Expository classes (TM1): Resolution of practical cases (TM2), Viewing and discussion of documentaries/videos (TM3), Bibliographic research (TM4), Small group activities (TM5) , Feedback information provided by the teacher about the work carried out (TM6).
