The course European and International Public Policies aims to provide students with a comprehensive analysis of policy-making processes in the context of European and international politics. Firstly, based on the problematisation of the state and the management of collective needs, public policies have evolved towards greater convergence, solidarity and subsidiarity in an attempt to respond to the climate emergency, the migratory crisis, pandemic management or the adoption of artificial intelligence. European and international public policies have asserted themselves as an instrument for regulating and solving public and private problems, involving governmental and non-governmental organisations in a demanding, diverse and global context.

Objectives
1. Define what public policies are and identify the main models of analysis and theoretical approaches; 2. Collect information on European and international public policies, raising awareness of the complexity of problems and political processes (use of statistical, scientific and economic information in the formulation and application of public policies); 3. Develop a comparative analysis of European and international public policies - concepts, origins, objectives, trends and impacts on political institutions and civil society; 4. Understand the challenges inherent in formulating and implementing public policies; 5. Analyse governance systems (European and international) and critically evaluate the results of public policies.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
In addition to the sessions dedicated to providing students with the key concepts and theoretical framework specific to this course European and International Public Policies, this course adopts also a mixed pedagogical approach - TBL (team based learning) and PBL (project based learning). Through the formation of working groups, students are encouraged to develop group projects and/or activities, in which they are guided by the lecturer to (1) define objectives, strategies and deadlines, (2) practise negotiation, debate and reflect on the problems proposed, (3) critically evaluate and present the results clearly. With a focus on group presentations, critical discussion of texts and written work, students are placed at the centre of the learning process.
