Class Research Methods in Sociology

The objective of this course is to familiarize students with the methodological foundations of sociological research and develop knowledge about the research process and the main methods and techniques of research.

1. Sociological research and the research process: epistemological assumptions and methodological guidelines.     1.1 Sociology and scientific methods. Common sense rupture. Social problems and sociological problems. 2. Bibliographic research and referencing tecniques 3. Diversity of epistemological perspectives and plurality of methodological orientations. 4. The research process: steps and procedures. 5.Introduction to intensive research and qualitative techniques. 6.Introduction to extensive research and quantitative techniques.  

The  learning methodology will be based on theoretical classes, complemented with fieldwork exercises.
