This Curricular Unit intends to recover an ancient relation between the tradition of architecture as a form of art and all the other artistic expressions, which has in some way been wrecked during the Modern Movement by the action of technics and the primacy of technology.

Syllabus
1. The arts and their genology: genre, types e artistic expressions. 2. Architecture as an art of contrast. 3. The mechanical reproduction of the artwork: the photography and the cinematographer. 4. The ekphrasis. 5. Architecture and the cinema. 6. The scene-setting and the entertainment-architecture. 7. The primacy of the space installation in the contemporary artistic scene. 8. The «site-specific». 9. Land art, happening and performance. 10. Architecture and the art media: video, virtual image and lightning.

Objectives
Objectives
Understanding the context of the architectural production within the milieu of the arts, by means of the innovations brought from the field of Transcultural and Inter-Arts Studies. Distinguishing philosophy of the art form aesthetics and stylistics. Place onself in the debate of the architectural representation as a discourse-subject within the conjunction of the arts. Developping the required sensibility to the understanding of different contemporary artistic expressions and their interest in architecture as a public and communitarian activity.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Teaching methodologies and assessment
Theoretical assembley sessions based on the contradictory discussion of works and authors. One only work about the creative restituition of an ekphrasis, making use of several art representations (80%). Assignment to be disclosed. Participation and attendance - 20%.
