Syllabus
- Introduction to the anatomy of the horse's hoof. - Normal shape and straightness of the hull. - Study and definition of hoof disorders. - Steelmaking techniques. - Different options for orthopedic drilling and their applications

Objectives
- Understand the different aspects of equine podiatry and steelmaking, either as a way of handling these animals, or as support for understanding, management and basic treatment of diseases originating in the hooves, through the application of corrective orthopedic horseshoes, or other treatments . - After approval in this Curricular Unit, the student must know the anatomy and conformation of the hoof of the horses, as well as the respective uprightness, kinetics and kinematics and be able to perform a well-founded clinical diagnosis, relevant to the most important hoof diseases.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
The use of simulators and life-size models allows students to practice procedures safely and gain confidence. The use of active learning methodologies such as clinical case solving, gamification and jigsaw methodology allow students to stay focused and actively interact during the teaching of the CU contents.
