The CU of Equine Breeding, Behaviour and Welfare involves an overall introducGon to the world of equine breeding. This CU intends to sensiGse students to the reality of the business world around equines as Veterinary Surgeons, considering a respectul approach to equine welfare and to the economic and social environment of the equine breeding professionals.

1. To train students to idenGfy equine management and handling problems. 2. To train students to carefully advise breeders on how they can improve producGvity. 3. To train students to idenGfy behaviour and welfare concerns on equines. 4. To train communicaGon skills, empathy and sympathy with the breeder or other clients.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Teaching methodologies and assessment
Teaching methodologies include practical (P) contents and tutorial moments (OT). In P practical concepts will be exposed through field trips to breeders’ facilities or equestrian centres for late analyse in OT context. The assessment will be done through 4 evaluations according to the Intended outcomes. The final mark will be calculated by the mean average of the 4 moments of evaluation that should be above 9,5 on 20.
